FANNING ISLAND, Kiribati — Five people, including two boys, have reportedly arrived on Fanning Island after spending about four months at sea.
Sources say the group identifies as being from Indonesia and says they are from Joe Island, also known as Pulau Ju. Their nationality, home island and account of the journey have not been independently verified.
A photograph shows five males seated together beneath a thatched shelter. Two boys are seated at the front: one wears a blue T-shirt and blue shorts, while the other wears a yellow T-shirt and dark shorts. The three adults wear brightly coloured clothing. The group appears tired in the photograph, but their health and current circumstances have not been confirmed.
The purpose of this notice is to help the group reconnect with relatives or people who may know them. Anyone who recognises them or has information about their families is asked to contact local authorities or a trusted community representative, rather than posting personal details publicly—particularly information about the children.
